New Terminal at the London Heathrow Airport
The new terminal 2 at the Heathrow Airport in London opens on the 4th June 2014. The regally named, “Queen’s Terminal“ will be home to airlines like Virgin Atlantic, Lufthansa and Aer Lingus, who will be responsible for mostly domestic flights.
Heathrow Airport officials announced that the newly completed terminal will be named after Queen Elizabeth II, just as the old terminal had been inaugurated 60 years ago. Starting 4 June, roughly 55,000 passengers are expected to go through the terminal each day, and there will be 56 check-in counters. The airline members of Star Alliance will also be prodominantly using the new departure area, with roughly 30 international members including United Airlines, Air Canada, Lufthansa, and Thai Airways.
